GOLS-certified organic latex adds a layer of contouring comfort. Unlike memory foam, latex is highly responsive — it doesn’t stay sunken in and leave you feeling “stuck.” It’s also highly resilient and doesn’t break down as easily (which is why we can back this mattress with a 25-year warranty).

What does a pillow top feel like?

A pillow top mattress has an extra layer sewn onto the surface, which gives it a noticeably softer, more cushioned feel than a standard mattress. Instead of lying "on top" of the bed, you'll feel a bit more sink and contour at the surface, especially around pressure points like shoulders and hips. Good pillow tops (like hybrid designs) balance that plushness with deeper support layers, so you get comfort without losing alignment.

Does the Concerto Organic Pillow Top Mattress work with an adjustable base?

Yes, the Concerto Organic Pillow Top Mattress is compatible with adjustable bases. Because it's a hybrid design (with latex and coils), it still has enough flexibility to bend and move with an adjustable frame while maintaining its structure.

What is the difference between the Serenade Organic Mattress and the Concerto Organic Pillow Top Mattress?

The main difference is that the Concerto features taller support coils, a layer of high-density microcoils, and a plush pillow top. The Concerto also features a tufted design, which secures the thicker layers together. Basically, that means that the Concerto is softer and may last a few more years (although both mattresses are backed by a 25-year warranty).

Do the coils contain glue or adhesives?

No. Naturepedic utilizes a proprietary method of heat-sealing our coils, which removes the need for glues/adhesives. Adhesives are known to contain toxic ingredients like formaldehyde, which is a carcinogen and off-gasses VOCs, and a typical mattress can contain up to 10 lbs. of adhesives. That's why creating a glueless design was so important to us!

To our knowledge, Naturepedic is the only organic mattress manufacturer to offer adhesive-free coils across our entire line of mattresses. We know this because we had to invent a new technology and build our own equipment in order to do it!

Some brands say they don't use adhesives to "bind layers" or in the comfort layers, but they're often only talking about the materials above the coils. That wording can make it sound like the entire mattress is adhesive-free, when in reality, the coil system itself may still contain several pounds of glue. Because coils aren't always considered part of the "comfort layers," this detail can be easy to overlook. If a brand doesn't clearly state that there are no adhesives in the coils or no adhesives in their mattresses, period, then there's a good chance they're still being used.

Do I need a foundation/box spring with the Concerto Organic Pillow Top Mattress?

If you have a bed that comes with a supportive platform at the correct height, there is no need for a foundation. If your platform is made of slats, please ensure that the spacing between slats is no more than 3 inches apart. Slats that are spaced too far apart can create grooves in the bottom of the mattress over time.

What makes microcoils different from regular coils?

Microcoils are smaller, more responsive coils designed to add contouring comfort closer to your sleep surface. In the Concerto, the high-density microcoil layer works with organic latex and full-size encased support coils to relieve pressure, reduce motion transfer, and encourage airflow through the mattress. They're the reason our plush pillow top still feels buoyant and breathable rather than dense or sinking.

Is this mattress good for heavier sleepers?

The Concerto is designed for plush, pillow top comfort rather than an extra-firm feel that heavier sleepers tend to prefer. While its encased coil base provides support, the deeper, more cushioned design may not be the best fit for heavier sleepers who need a firmer, flatter sleep surface. If you prefer a more supportive “on top of the mattress” feel, a firmer Naturepedic mattress (like the Serenade or EOS Classic) may be a better choice.

How long does a pillow top last?

A pillow top’s lifespan depends on the quality of its materials, how it’s used, and whether it’s placed on a supportive foundation. The Concerto is made with resilient organic latex, high-density microcoils, encased support coils, and organic wool batting with a hand-tufted Euro top design to help keep its comfort layers secure over time. It’s backed by a 25-year limited warranty. For best performance, use it with a properly supportive bed frame or foundation.

Concerto Organic Pillow Top Mattress Care Instructions
To keep your Concerto Organic Pillow Top Mattress in great condition, use a mattress protector to guard against spills and wear. You can rotate it head to foot every 3-6 months to promote even use. Make sure it’s placed on a supportive foundation or base, and if your foundation has slats, they should be spaced no more than 3 inches apart. As needed, spot clean with mild detergent and cold water, and avoid soaking or harsh chemicals. You can let the mattress breathe occasionally by pulling back bedding to release moisture, and avoid bending, folding, or prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. A light, natural scent from materials like wool or latex is normal at first and will fade over time.
